This isn’t supposed to tell you that you have to use these rules, it is just a list of options to add spice and flavor to your table.
Distinctive Features
Add some flavor to your characters and make them yours. This is a CHA based feature, in the base game.
Culture and Characters
This is more as a way to add more background to your character, such as hobbies or previous employment. Add bonuses to skills to enhance your characters so they can be useful in more situations outside of their profession, you never know when it will help.
Increased Personal Skill Points
Like Culture and Characters, this allows characters to have more flavor to take advantage of.
Improvised Weapons
Be it tools on hand or something larger, sometimes percussive maintenance is the key to getting something working. Sometimes in very few occasions, you actually have to partake in combat. Check the table to equivalent sizes in Equipment.
Light Sources
Sometimes you need to work in low-light areas, and having a light source makes it easier to see what your are working on or use Search or Spot skills. Light sources are visible from 100 meters away and at 100 meters characters must succeed a Spot roll to see the light source. This is to offset the modifiers of Darkness. Good luck holding your light.
Fatigue Points
- Max = STR + CON Sometimes the work requires getting in some serious work, and it wears on you physically, fatigue helps you determine when it may be time to take a break or be forced into it.
Reputation
This may be a good fit depending on your players or the kinds of characters they want to create. Also, very heavily dependent on the scenario they are playing, because your reputation may not matter all that much if you are the basement-dwelling IT Crowd.
Sanity Points
- Max = POW x 5 From dealing with people to dealing with their problems, but mostly their explanations, your Sanity slowly suffers, and just like in the base game, if you lose too many points in a short time, you will suffer a breakdown and need to call off to gain it back, yes, take a break. GMs should use their discretion on how to use sanity in each situation in dealing with people, this may not be horror, but in many cases, it can be very adjacent.
